Chapter 500: You Can Actually Speak Like a Human
Chapter 500: You Can Actually Speak Like a Human
This situation is just so bizarre.
An hour after Lucas Sawyer was taken to the police station.
Mrs. Seymour and Leon Vaughn appeared in an expensive private hospital for a DNA test.
This turn of events even the well-versed police couldn’t say they’d ever seen before.
Leon Vaughn was brought here not for the test, but as Thea Shaw had told her, as an apology, Mrs. Seymour decided to have Leon thoroughly examined, just in case her son had hit her too hard.
Although just by looking at Mrs. Seymour’s expression, Leon knew Thea was lying.
With the advancements of modern technology and the substantial amount they paid, the hospital said the results would be out in an hour, asking them to wait for a moment.
Mrs. Seymour sat there sneering. She wanted to question if the Sutton Family had gone mad, but thinking about the strange feeling she had when she saw Leon Vaughn, she had also agreed insanely.
But even as she came, it was just based on that subtle feeling.
Now she was more angry, believing it to be nonsense, and when the results came out, she would see how the Sutton Family explained themselves to her!
Her son was still at the police station!
Zia Sutton was now worried about another matter: "Thea, aren’t you worried your fortune-telling might backfire?"
Thea Shaw sighed and said, "If it does, then dad will have to cover for it."
Mr. Sutton nearby: "..."
Such a filial child indeed.
Even though Zia knew it was unlikely things would backfire, imagining the scenario made him laugh as he gave Thea a thumbs up, "You truly are a countrywide model of filial piety."
Mr. Sutton frowned, "And what about you? Do you think you’re any better?"
Zia: "..."
He hadn’t even suggested that Mr. Sutton take the blame; this father-daughter pair was truly ridiculous.
In their banter, Leon Vaughn was still undergoing various examinations.
Thea noticed she seemed a bit timid, with a withdrawn personality. It was obvious she hadn’t been living well.
Her examination results were out quicker than the DNA test, and the doctor came out and asked, "Who here is a relative of that girl?"
Mrs. Seymour glared around, seeing no one responding, Mr. Sutton stepped forward with a sigh and asked, "How is she?"
"Not well. Besides poor nutrition, she has numerous marks of long-term abuse on her body."
The doctor glanced at the people in fine attire, while the girl’s clothes were clearly cheap market stall goods. Realizing the situation, he didn’t reproach too much, "More detailed results will take a little longer."
Mrs. Seymour’s expression shifted upon hearing about the many abuse marks.
She never imagined that such a young girl could have suffered long-term abuse.
Zia gasped as he listened, inadvertently thinking of Thea Shaw: "Thankfully you were taken in by Auntie Blair back then."
Thea replied, "Yes, otherwise today would have been the day I personally took Benson Abbott’s life."
"A girl shouldn’t use foul language!" Zia then looked at Thea complicatedly, "If it had been truly tragic for you... maybe our family and Aurora wouldn’t be in this situation today."
Thea smiled wryly, "Why? It’s Benson Abbott who did wrong."
"...True, but still, it’s you who would’ve suffered." Zia pursed his lips, "How could we be so carefree?"
How could one watch their own suffer and still be at ease with a non-biological child?
Thea said, "I’m very surprised. Given the defiant attitude you had when I first saw you, you can still speak like a normal person."
Zia: "..."
