Chapter 136: The Past Of The Man Called Sam [TRIGGER WARNING!]
Chapter 136: The Past Of The Man Called Sam [TRIGGER WARNING!]
Sam was rescued but not much was known about his rescuers or why they came when they did.
Sam was in a vulnerable state but he was alive, these people had no idea the kind of person he was but he couldn’t be much of a threat if he was in this state.
Even with that, they took precautionary measures, binding Sam just in case he indeed proved to be a threat.
But what was going on in Sam’s unconscious mind?
What was the one thing he was reliving over and over?
-
Sam was an orphan that always got into trouble at the orphanage that he was in, it was a Christian orphanage that disciplined their children physically.
Sam was beaten regularly because he didn’t understand certain emotions or how to process them healthily.
This resulted in him lashing out in violence when the other kids upset him or made fun of him.
Sam, however, responded well to authority even though it only lasted for a few days.
Sam went through the motions until the age of seven when his violence was no longer restricted to the other children but extended to the nuns of the church.
Sam had no friends and he didn’t need any but this contributed to his increasingly hostile behaviour to everyone around him as everyone stayed away from him.
"Sam! You can’t do that! It is against the rules here!" A nun named Theresa warned him but Sam didn’t care to listen.
He liked this nun as much as he was capable of liking anyone because she showed her love to the children through violence.
The more she beat Sam, the more loved he felt and this created a toxic cycle where he would seek to be punished.
Theresa saw Sam standing over a much bigger kid, his fist bloodied and his face covered in his blood. Sam was pummeling him after he had made fun of him.
The kid thought he stood a chance due to his size and age difference but being new to the orphanage, he would soon realize why people avoided Sam.
"He made fun of me, why isn’t he being punished too?" Sam asked but Theresa smacked him across the face.
"IT’S BECAUSE HE IS IN THE HOSPITAL!" Theresa said, Sam smiled the moment he felt the pain on his cheek.
"God will save him if he has a righteous soul, won’t you?" Sam dismissed the weight of his actions and Theresa was visibly livid.
"God loves us all and gives us trials and tribulations. I acted on behalf of God and became his tribulation," Sam said with a wide smile, rubbing his cheek that was slapped.
"What is wrong with you?" Theresa asked Sam and this question caught the seven-year-old off guard but he had an answer for it.
"Nothing is wrong with me for I am a creation of God... Sister Theresa, can I ask you a question?" Sam inquired.
Theresa was surprised he didn’t burst into tears when she slapped him because she didn’t hold back like she would the other kids and yet he took it like it was nothing.
She wanted to see what the young man had to say because he looked eager.
"What is it, Sam?" Theresa asked with a defeated sigh.
"Can you hit me again?" Sam asked but his face looked too shy to ask like it was some sort of favor he was asking for.
Theresa’s brow arched as she was trying to comprehend the bizarre request of the seven-year-old.
"Why would you want me to hit you?" Theresa asked and Sam got shy, he couldn’t even look at her.
"I want to feel your love," Sam responded with a sheepish smile and this response irked Theresa. She knew at that moment that something was seriously wrong with Sam.
"The Father was right...." Theresa said to which Sam raised a brow.
The look in her eyes was the same as the other kids, she was disgusted by the boy before her.
"Did I do something wrong?" Sam asked, trying to close the distance between them but she matched his steps by moving backwards.
"Sister Theresa?" Sam called out in confusion.
"I do not love you, Sam. I don’t think anyone can love someone as twisted as you! The father was right, we should have never taken you in!" Theresa said but the moment she said this, something in Sam clicked.
"You love me, don’t you?" Sam questioned in denial.
"This has to be some sort of a joke because I love you Sister Theresa..." Sam said and Theresa found her back against the wall.
She has seen how violent Sam was to other kids, and he could easily beat up older kids as well.
"Sam, go back to your dorm!" Theresa commanded but those words fell on deaf ears.
"You don’t believe me, do you?" Sam was mumbling to himself, he was talking to himself as opposed to Theresa.
Theresa looked around for an object to defend herself and she saw a metal pipe, she grabbed it without hesitation and swung it to hit Sam across the face.
This knocked the boy onto his back, blood streaming down his forehead.
Theresa couldn’t believe what she had done but this was her chance to run away.
She did just that but Sam grabbed her ankle, tripping her in the process.
Theresa fell face-first into the ground and the look in Sam’s eyes told her that her life might be in danger.
She tried to scream for help but Sam’s fist found its way to her mouth, bashing some of her teeth in.
"I knew you loved me, Sister Theresa but it is my turn to prove that I love you too," Sam said, he looked around and saw the pipe she had used to strike him earlier was within arm’s length.
Sam picked it up and smashed her across the face, he didn’t stop there as he kept hitting her over and over until her face was disfigured.
Sam would have killed her if someone hadn’t walked in and pinned him to the ground.
Sam didn’t fight back and resigned to his fate but seeing Theresa in that state brought on a satisfied smile from the young boy.
Sister Theresa ended up being in a vegetative state for the rest of her life as the trauma to the brain was far too severe.
Due to the orphanage’s method of discipline, they couldn’t have Sam arrested or taken away as he was such a child and abuse was strictly against the State’s law.
They risked having their license revoked so they simply took Sam far away and dumped him on the street like disposable thrash.
Sam was homeless at the age of seven and it took everything in him to survive.
But his lack of conscience made this possible as he often got into fights with fellow homeless people over food and cartons.
But never once did he complain about his life being unfair as Sam grew from these experiences.
Eventually, a man who organized caged fights found Sam fighting to be interesting because he fought like an animal.
This didn’t grant Sam fame or money as he was still homeless much through the years, the only difference was he could not afford to eat.
Sam lived like an animal and in these cage fights, he not only fought humans to the death but animals as well.
It didn’t take long for him to come of age but Sam was anything but normal.
He had a resolve that no one could touch and this was why he did so well in the army when he was recruited.
Sam was a standout soldier even among his peers and that was where he met Clementine.
Clementine and Sam didn’t get along partly because none of them even acknowledged each other’s existence. But there came a day that changed that.
Clementine was a lady, an attractive one to say the least so other soldiers didn’t see her as an equal as most saw her as a piece of ass to be conquered.
Sexual remarks, sexism, and even sexual harassment became the norm for Clementine.
She could tolerate it because she knew this much would be the case until she proved herself but this was naive thinking on her end.
A day came when she was sleeping, all of a sudden she felt a hand around her mouth and her limbs being held in place.
She opened her eyes only to see four men surrounding her and one was unbuckling his belt.
She knew what was coming and the worst part of this was, she couldn’t do anything about it.
Clementine struggled but there was not much she could do, she struggled but they were already removing the trousers they wore.
"You stupid bitch, did you really think we wouldn’t have a piece of that?" A man said and that was when Clementine lost the energy to even raise a finger and resigned to her fate.
She closed her eyes, trying to think of something else to take her mind away from what was about to happen.
But something wet touched her face prompting her to open her eyes only to see that the men that were about to violate her all had their throats slit open.
They dropped to the ground, dead and her eyes caught Sam staring at her blankly, there was nothing behind his eyes but boredom and disinterest.
"W-Why did you save me?" Clementine asked and Sam’s face creased upon hearing this.
"Saved you? I killed them because they stole my food," Sam responded bluntly before walking out like nothing had happened.
Clementine was left speechless but that was the moment she vowed to repay him for saving her life.
No one messed with her again because they knew how crazy Sam was and they mistook this as her being under Sam’s protection.
Sam wasn’t punished because he was one of their most skilled soldiers and with Clementine having hand marks around her skin that matched those of the deceased, her claims were believed. This was how she and Sam came to know of one another’s existence.
