"We still have five mus of rice paddies left. This is not even half of what we have sown. Please help me, please," Old Madam Rong jumped up anxiously. The Li family was still better as Old Master Tong had worked in the field all day and somehow managed to harvest three mu of rice.
The Li family worked together with Yu Dong and the mammies and harvested most of the rice that they had sown. They only had a mu and a half left, which was not a big loss but her family had five mu of rice left!
"Old Madam Rong, it is not that we do not want to help you but we cannot help you any more than this. We also have families and children, if we get bitten and get infected, who will help us?" One of the women said as she wiped her hands and ran out of the field.
"She is right. The locusts are this close already, if we do not leave then we are only asking for death," said another woman as she stopped working and threw the sickle on the side and rushed after the first woman.
"Who can you blame? Your family has so many people. If you had listened to Madam Yu and Village Head Gu, then you would have harvested the rice sown in your field by now!" Someone shouted at the Rong family members who were begging them to help their family.
The Rong family acted dismissive because of what happened to Rong Xi. But who could be blamed? That woman courted death and died. Why were they acting as if the villagers owed them something?
The Li family was the same. Fortunately at least one of them had a decent head on his shoulder or else they would have suffered just as much of a big loss as the Rong family.
"No! We cannot wait anymore!" Village Head Gu shouted as she saw the locusts getting close to the entrance of the village. "The locusts have already attacked the Big Mountain Village! We can no longer stay outside, everyone run to the main house!"
"Village Head Gu come with me!" Yu Dong shouted as she caught hold of the elderly woman. The main house was too far and Village Head Gu had bad knees, she wouldn't be able to run that far.@@@@
Thus, Yu Dong dragged Village Head Gu to her closest house.
As for the rice that was left to be harvested it could only be abandoned.
Far away, they heard someone scream.
"It sounds like Old Master Rong. It seems like the crazy Old Madam Rong is keeping her family on the fields," Xiao Hua pressed his ear on the mesh window while watching the locusts smash against the mesh wires. Seeing that they couldn't get inside, Xiao Hua made a face and taunted, "Haha, you cannot hurt me."

"She is really crazy," Village Head Gu agreed with Xiao Hua. She warned them not to stay behind but Old Madam Rong ignored her warning and pushed her family to harvest the rice. Now she was certain that the woman not only lost her rice but her family members were sure to get infected.
